About Brighton

Brighton has a long history. The post office opened in 1849 and the town became a municipality in 1858. Its housing reflects that age, with stone villas, bungalows and grand Esplanade homes alongside newer two-storey builds. Older blocks have been subdivided in places, and there is a good supply of low-rise unit and apartment stock close to the beach.

Day-to-day life centres on Jetty Road, with cafes, restaurants, the Esplanade Hotel and the Windsor Theatre on Commercial Road. Brighton Oval is the largest sporting complex in Holdfast Bay. Brighton and Hove stations on the Seaford line run straight to the city, and Glenelg is a short ride up the coast.

  • Brighton Jetty, the beach and the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club
  • Jetty Road cafes, restaurants and the Esplanade Hotel
  • Windsor Theatre, one of Adelaide's oldest operating cinemas
  • Brighton and Hove stations on the Seaford line
  • Brighton Oval sports complex and skatepark, plus Brighton Primary School and Brighton Secondary School nearby
